Tumour profiling is often recommended for patients with pancreatic cancer whose cancer has spread beyond the pancreas.
This testing of tumour tissue tells you about the biology of your tumour. It is also sometimes called biomarker testing or genomic testing. A tissue sample is collected through a biopsy or surgery and then analysed. It can show changes in the tumour’s genes or proteins. Results may influence treatment decisions.
Tumour profiling is not currently available for all patients in Ireland and access should be discussed with your oncologist.
